Making the move to Windows 11 is not just about staying current; this time around, moving to the latest version of Windows means so much more. Naturally, Windows 11 comes with a host of enhanced security and productivity features, but this time the focus is on getting your business future ready. As AI continues to extend its reach into so many of our personal and workplace activities, Windows 11 is purpose built and continually optimised for the AI PCs and the AI-powered apps and services here now and yet to come.

With the end of support for Windows 10 approaching, it’s time to start planning your transition to Windows 11. Let’s get you up to speed on what’s amazing in Windows 11 and how Windows 11 will get more out of your AI PCs and apps.

The End of Support for Windows 10 – Coming soon.

Microsoft has announced that support for Windows 10 will end on October 14, 2025. After this date, Windows 10 will no longer receive security updates, patches, or technical support. This means that any vulnerabilities discovered after this date will not be addressed, leaving your systems exposed to potential security risks. So, now is the time to get planning.

It’s not just all about security though. The world of technology and how we use it is changing exponentially with the emergence of Generative AI and a host of other artificial intelligence applications, and there is no turning back. Being able to leverage the opportunities (and control the risks) that AI presents will depend on having the future-ready tools, processes, people and devices in your stack. Let’s take a look at what Windows 11 brings to the table.

The Upgrade Process

The wins from upgrading to Windows 11 will be massive, but the upgrade process won’t be! Here’s what the process will look like and how we’ll get you future ready.

  1. Assessment: We start by assessing your current systems, hardware and apps to ensure they’re going to be compatible with Windows 11. If you’re a Maxsum Managed IT Services client, your Account Manager will already be talking to you about the Windows 10 end-of-support dates and the devices you’ll likely need to replace before then.
  2. Planning: Based on the assessment, we create a detailed upgrade plan including timelines, potential downtime, any necessary hardware upgrades or any specific processes required for particular line-of-business apps.
  3. Upgrade: Before proceeding with the upgrade, we ensure that all your data is backed up securely to prevent any loss during the transition. Our team will handle the installation of Windows 11 on all your devices, ensuring that the process is completed efficiently and with minimal disruption to your operations. This will likely occur over two or more phases, with a smaller “pilot” group upgraded first for confirmation and testing purposes, before the remainder of the upgrades are rolled out.
  4. Post-Upgrade Support: After the upgrade, we provide ongoing support to address any issues that may arise and to answer any questions your team may have. In the meantime, here are some FAQs about upgrading to Windows 11.
